Lugano, Switzerland – Punkt., the Swiss consumer electronics company and leader in the digital minimalist and data privacy sector, today announced that it has signed a manufacturing agreement with Gigaset, a global leader in communications technology and a renowned company based in Germany with precision manufacturing expertise, to offer European-built mobile devices designed with intentionality and data sovereignty features, for business and consumer markets globally.
Punkt. is amongst a wider movement with tech companies based in Switzerland, that is a recognised global hub for alternatives to traditional big tech. This is due to its diverse range of products and services that utilize subscription-based models for personal data retention, which are different to the traditional surveillance-driven tech products.
In response to the growing demand for alternatives to the limited options offered by dominant players in the mobile technology sector, and the increasing calls for technological autonomy, Punkt. is now able to deliver a European-built alternative to fragmented and less transparent products. The new mobile devices will cater to both business and consumer markets, supported by best-in-class supply chain management and superior manufacturing standards provided by Gigaset in Germany.
Alongside the software partner, Swiss-based Apostrophy, the new manufacturing agreement between Punkt. and Gigaset will empower individuals and enterprises to access market-leading products that are produced with complete control and transparency in Europe. This initiative provides a tech-driven choice that emphasizes intentionality and data sovereignty for customers worldwide.
Punkt. will benefit from Gigaset’s accomplished heritage of Germany based manufacturing expertise. This includes its highly automated production line equipped with real-time assembly feedback and stringent testing protocols, and the achievement of an exceptionally low return rate—90% below the industry average. All devices will also be produced using 100% CO2-free green electricity.
In addition, the new European-built mobile devices, in conjunction with Punkt.’s operating system, communication tools, and selected partners, will create a platform and ecosystem with a native trust chain that guarantees privacy, compliance, and usability without compromise.
Petter Neby, Founder & CEO of Punkt., commented: “This agreement fulfils our intention to produce the very highest quality devices, made in Europe for trust, quality and resilience, to serve our discerning customer base around the world, and designed for anyone who cares about a healthy technology balance, or their personal, or corporate, data ownership.”
Hillson Cheung, President of Telecommunication Products at VTech, the parent company of Gigaset, added: “We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Punkt., establishing a partnership that will meet the increasing demand for best-in-class mobile devices made in Europe. This collaboration will merge leading global technology capabilities with manufacturing excellence at our facility in Bocholt, Germany.”
Punkt.’s first ‘Made in Europe’ mobile device is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2025.
